Nothing wild about this gentle boy

Speed Running Wild (FL)

Farm Name: Gentle Ben or Benji

Bay gelding, foaled February 23, 2010

By: Wildcat Heir out of Miss Placed by Out of Place

Height: 17 hands

Career Statistics: 57 starts; 1 win; 10 seconds, 7 thirds. Earnings: $75,930

Speed Running Wild, or Ben as we call him on the farm, had a rather long and unremarkable racing career. He ran for nearly five years - an accomplishment not found in most racing horses today - racking up just one win. He spent those five years in the hands of the same stable crew and trainer. Even though he had few wins, he was still regarded as the "big horse" to most of those who worked around him. His gentle demeanor endeared him to nearly everyone who knew him.

As his performances began to tail off, his team made the decision to retire him from racing. They wanted to give him a chance at a new career. So he was transferred to Second Call to begin the transition to riding/show horse. He's a big, beautiful specimen of a horse. At nearly 17 hands, he has the physical characterists to tackle almost any discipline. His gaits are smootth and flexible. He has an appetite for learning and is more than eager to please. He loves being close to his human handlers and seems to prefer their company to equine companionship. Oh .. and ... he'll do nearly anything for a carrot!

We expect Ben to be ready for adoption in May. You are welcome to check him out any time. Prospective adopters must be serious about adotption and have previous experience with Thoroughbreds.
